TanCare stands for Tanzania Care. The NGO was established in December 2011 and gained its registration in 8th November, 2012 under Non-Governmental Organizations Act of 2002, with a registration number OONGO/05918 and a mandate to operate in Mainland Tanzania in accordance with TanCare governing Constitution.TanCare is a nonprofit research, evaluation and technical assistance organization that helps communities improve long-term outcomes for their youth.Tanzania Care was founded by a group of young graduate and undergraduate students.Began as an organization of young people who joined together in the spirit of helping their society from their proffessional in different perspectives .The NGO was pioneered by some graduates from higher learning institution from Institute of Judicial Administration(IJA),Teophil Kisanji University(TEKU),University of Dodoma(UDOM),University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Mzumbe University (MU) and Mbeya University of Science and Technology(MUST).

TanCare is a youth-led non-governmental organization dedicated to giving other youth the skills and experience needed to engage and interact with their socities in issues of national and international level to bring social and economic development in Tanzania.The desire of TanCare is to advance the economic and social status of the entire society to march with the overall world achievements in science and technology and share the wealth of material goods, skills, knowledge, technology and other benefits. 

Human dignity and Gender equity & equality

All women and men are equal. They have equal rights in the society and participate in the development activities equally.TanCare will ensure participation of all poor living in the working areas and provide special emphasis to the women participation as they considerably in backward position.All TanCare staff shall have the equal opportunities for promotion based on their experience and qualification considering gender perspective.TanCare Staff and Management will ensure gender justice in all aspect of the organization

All Projects/Programs personnel of TanCare shall promote Honesty, integrity, Sincerity and Transparency in all activities.Staff behavior and conduct must consider this value remain honest, sincere and transparentStaff and organization will never hide any information to the stakeholders

All Projects/Programs of TanCare shall manage and use their resources cost effectively and in some cases cost recovery basis.Staff of TanCare shall remain highly concerned on best use of resource

 

Concern for Environment, Quality Services & Discipline

Staff of TanCare shall work in a threat free and congenial environment.All Project/Programs of TanCare would be environmentally sound.All Projects/Programs Services of TanCare will be high quality. Staff of TanCare shall be responsible for maintaining the quality of the program performance.All staff, beneficiaries and counterparts shall respect the organizational rules and regulation.Staff shall remain committed to the policy, procedures and system of the organization.Any violation of rules and regulations would be treated seriously and disciplinary actions would taken accordingly

 

Capability and Accountability & Creativity and Innovation

Beneficiaries of TanCare shall possess the knowledge, understanding and capability to identify and resolve their problems. Staff of TanCare shall facilitate process.TanCare Management and staff of TanCare shall remain strict to their work plan and demonstrate accountability to the organization.In all cases the creativity and innovation will be appreciated in the whole project or program cycle.Creativity and innovative work the staff would be rewarded Innovative and creative work would be replicated

Our Core Values

Who we are?

TanCare cultivates and embraces volunteerism by engaging local volunteers to design and implement youth activities,though currently looking to connect with international volunteers.TanCare operates under seven strategic objectives:

 

  • To reduce the risk of sexual transmission of HIV/AIDS amongst youth

  • To cultivate youth leadership skills for participation in the decision making process at Parliament and local councils.

  • To improve the employability of disadvantaged Tanzanian youth through provision of transferable and marketable skills, enabling them access to long-term career opportunities and improved livelihoods.

  • To promote dialogue, debate, and positive change in attitude, skills and practices in order to improve governance and reduce poverty and HIV/AIDS transmission.

  • To promote environmental protection through youth involvement in activities such as tree planting clubs at school and community levels.

  • To build capacity of youth to understand key principles of project planning, research and management so as to engage in meaningful dialogue with policy and decision makers.

Why are we here?

To inspire and capaciatite youth to create and works for the changes within there societies.

 

TanCare play a role on networking youth,its currently dealing with expand the network of youth whole over Tanzania and later on with plan to move foward in global perspectives,channeling them in the aspects and key areas in which TanCare is focus.In this aspect TanCare basically use  volunteearism based system.

 

Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation.TanCare working to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizes an increasing number and diversity of volunteers throughout the world.
